Choosing Purity in a World of Compromise
On Friday, 24 April 2026, the University of Abuja became the gathering place for young people seeking to understand what it truly means to live a life of purity, integrity, and godly conviction in a world where values are constantly shifting. The Young People’s Purity Conference 2026 was a spiritually enriching gathering designed to raise a generation of young people committed to biblical purity, discernment, and godly living. More than a conference, it was an invitation to make a choice: to live differently, think differently, and honour God in every area of life.
A Call to Purity
The theme of the conference, “Avoid Every Appearance of Evil,” was drawn from 1 Thessalonians 5:22 (TPT). The message went beyond simply avoiding obvious wrongdoing. Participants were challenged to develop the discernment to recognise situations, relationships, choices, and influences that could compromise their walk with God.
In a world where boundaries are increasingly blurred, the conference provided a safe and biblical space to ask important questions about relationships, personal decisions, integrity and everyday Christian living. The goal was not merely to tell young people what not to do. It was to help them understand why purity matters and how to practically live it out.
Worship, Word and Honest Conversations
The programme opened with prayer and a welcome address by Min. Ogechi, followed by a powerful time of praise and worship led by Team David. Min. Omatsola Lawanson introduced participants to Women E-Bible Study Ministries (WEBS) and the main speaker before Min. Jubemi Annie led the main teaching session. The conference also created room for honest and relatable conversations through a dynamic panel and interactive session featuring Bro. Solomon Adi, Min. Precious, and Min. Bunmi, moderated by Min. Hajara Ransom. This interactive component was particularly important because purity is not simply a theological concept. Young people face real questions about relationships, pressure, temptation, habits, boundaries, and the choices they make every day. The conference provided an opportunity to address those questions within a biblical framework.
From Hearing to Commitment
The conference did not end with teaching. Participants were given an opportunity to respond personally through a Commitment and Dedication Session led by Sis. Valerie Egbeama. This created a moment for young people to move from simply hearing about purity to making a personal commitment to pursue godliness. It was a powerful reminder that while the call to purity requires personal choices, no one has to fight their battles alone. God's grace, prayer, and the support of the body of Christ are essential in the journey. The programme concluded with Holy Communion and Closing Prayer, led by Evangelist Doris.
More Than a Conference
Throughout the programme, several key elements came together to create an engaging experience:
Spirit-filled worship and praise
Scripture-rich teaching
Dynamic and relatable speakers
Interactive panel discussions and Q&A
Prayer and spiritual commitment
Freedom prayers addressing addiction and bondage
Participants also received gifts including cash gifts, books and hand fans, adding a practical expression of appreciation to the day.
The Challenge of Reaching Young People
While the conference was spiritually impactful, it also highlighted some important realities. Attendance was below expectations, with observations indicating that many students were more likely to participate when incentives such as food and refreshments were provided. This presents an important opportunity for future conferences: how can we develop more effective campus outreach and engagement strategies that attract young people while keeping the primary focus on spiritual transformation?
Transportation was another challenge. As the Abuja membership continues to grow, the current bus capacity is becoming insufficient. These challenges are not reasons to retreat. Rather, they provide valuable lessons for improving future editions and creating greater opportunities for young people to participate.
Looking Ahead
The Young People’s Purity Conference 2026 reinforced the importance of intentionally raising young people who understand that following Christ affects every area of life.
A Generation Called to Stand
The world may continue to change. Values may continue to shift. Pressure may continue to increase. But God's standard remains. The call is still clear: Avoid every appearance of evil. Purity is not simply about what we refuse. It is about who we choose to become. It is choosing integrity when compromise is easier. It is choosing God's Word when culture offers another standard. It is choosing wisdom in relationships. It is choosing boundaries that honour God. And it is choosing, every day, to live as a person set apart for Him.
The Young People’s Purity Conference 2026 was one step in that journey—a gathering that sought to equip, challenge and encourage a generation to pursue purity, discernment and godly living.
The call has been given.
The choice is ours.
The generation must rise.
